Christmas at St Francis

Christmas is for everyone. Whether you come every week, once a year, or haven't been since school, you're welcome here. This year there's lots going on, from beer and carols to Christingles. Pick one and come along.

When is it all happening?

Saturday 28 November, 12pm to 4pm: Welcome to Christmas

Pop in for FREE hot chocolate and mince pies. There are crafts for the kids, and we'll sing carols together. Come and go as you like. MECA's Christmas market is next door, so you can visit both.

Sunday 29 November: Advent Sunday

Our usual services at 9am, 10:45am and 4pm. It's the start of the countdown to Christmas.

Friday 4 December, time to be confirmed: Women's wreath making evening

An evening just for women. Make a Christmas wreath to take home.

Friday 11 December, time to be confirmed: Family movie evening

Bring the whole family and watch a film together.

Sunday 13 December: All-age Christmas services

9am: Communion, as usual.

10:45am and 4pm: Christmas services for all ages. Kids are part of it, so bring them along.

Wednesday 16 December, 7:30pm: Beer and carols at The Woodpecker

Carols at the pub, drink in hand. It's our night out every year.

Sunday 20 December, 4:30pm and 6:30pm: Carols by Candlelight

The same service twice, with candles, carols and the Christmas story. There is a 9am communion service that morning, and no 10:45am or 4pm service that day.

Thursday 24 December, 2pm and 4pm: Christingle

A short, lively service for families, with a candle-lit orange to take home. These are the only services on Christmas Eve until the 9pm communion.

Thursday 24 December, 9pm: Christmas Eve communion

A quiet service with bread and wine, late on Christmas Eve.

Friday 25 December, 9am: Christmas Day service

A Christmas morning service with bread and wine. Children are welcome.

Sunday 27 December, 10:45am: Communion

There is no 9am or 4pm service this Sunday.

Other Sundays are as usual: 9am, 10:45am and 4pm. On 6 December the children's groups hold their final session before Christmas, as a Christmas party.

Thursday 21 January: Alpha starts

Got questions about life and faith? Alpha is a relaxed course to talk them through. Find out more on our Alpha page.

What will it be like?

The services are friendly, with carols and songs, a short talk and prayers. Children are welcome at every one, and the 10:45am and the Christingle are especially for families. You don't need to know the words. Everything is on a screen or a sheet. Bread and wine at the communion services are shared to remember Jesus: you can join in, come up for a blessing, or stay in your seat.

Good to know

Where do I park?

There is a car park for about 20 cars, and plenty of space on the nearby roads. It gets busy, so come 15 minutes early.

It's been years since I went to church.

Welcome back. We won't ask where you've been.
