Bridge the Gap Football

Football for everyone, whether or not you have anything to do with church.

Every Monday night we play football together at Rykneld Sports Centre. It’s a friendly, relaxed game for all levels, and it’s open to anyone aged 18 and over. We’re about forming fellowship, having fun and keeping fit. Along the way, people get to know each other and ask questions about faith, if they want to.

Now part of Bridge the Gap

Bridge the Gap is all about bridging the gap between church and the people around it. Whether you go to church, used to, or have never been, you’re welcome here. Over four years, our football community has grown to over 130 people. To keep it going well, we’ve joined the Bridge the Gap Football Network, which partners with churches to train and equip volunteers to create welcoming football communities where people can belong, make friends and explore faith if they want to. We’re part of the Werbs Network of churches (St Francis Mackworth, St Werburgh’s Derby, St Ed’s Allenton & Shelton Lock, & St Philip’s Chaddesden), working together in Derby.

Will anything change? Not much on the night: the same leaders and the same atmosphere will be there every week. Behind the scenes, there are new WhatsApp communities, a Bridge the Gap app for sign-ups and payments, and more football tournaments to get involved in.
